INNOVATION &
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The mission of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program is to develop a culture that promotes cultivation, creation, development, and launch of impactful ideas. We are working to achieve that mission through an interconnected network of curriculum, design and fabrication spaces, extra- and co-curricular programs, and dedicated staff and student volunteers. Our vision is to maximize opportunities for Pitt students to experience the spark of innovation in an open and collaborative learning community so that each student graduates with what it takes to make something amazing.
Makerspaces
We support a variety of spaces for student prototyping, collaborative design, and community building. The spaces are equipped to handle low-resolution prototypes to high-end digital fabrication.
XProjects
XProjects are immersive, fast-paced projects for clients inside or outside of Pitt in which student learn project management, communication, and prototyping skills on a milestone-driven team.
ARX
Applied Research Xploration projects allow diverse student teams to deeply explore a Pitt faculty's reasearch with the goal of finding creative and as-yet unimagined ways for that knowledge to benefit society.
IDEA Projects
IDEA projects enable interdisciplinary student teams to work alongside staff to achieve a design and prototyping milestone that will help a Pitt inventor move their technology toward commercialization.
